Lacie Braun, LMHC, queer therapist offering EMDR intensives in Seattle WA
Real, raw and transformative therapy to help you get and stay unstuck.
You’re here because something hasn’t been working.
You’ve been doing weekly therapy for awhile now, and even though you’ve gotten good insight and developed some skills, it’s beginning to feel static. You’re looking for movement, something different to help really shift things.
You’re tired of circling the same themes without being able to change them. No matter how much you try you can’t seem to talk your body out of reacting even when you understand what is happening.
This is where the support of EMDR therapy comes in to rewire your brain and turn understanding into change.
Instead of just trying to talk through everything for the 100th time, eye movement or tapping supports your brain’s superpower: neuroplasticity, its innate ability to reorganize. This allows you to recognize old beliefs and patterns for what they are and find new ways to incorporate helpful truths which counter those beliefs.
Intensives are an opportunity to deepen your work and help your body learn how to recognize when it needs to be in protective mode and when it can ease up. You can learn to find a sense of relative safety in your body, to feel more present and less on edge or shut down. You can trust that your body will protect you when you need it but allow you to feel the good stuff too! Ultimately you can live a life you truly enjoy.
I will dig in deep with you, and I will bring my whole self to the process. We will listen to the wisdom of our bodies and find a rhythm that works for us both. We can take breaks when we need them, whether it’s stepping outside for fresh air or grabbing a snack. Extended sessions give us the flexibility to tend to what shows up and still feel grounded when we finish.
these are my guiding principles.
-
The connection between us isn’t just a backdrop to the work, it is the work. When something familiar shows up in how we relate to each other, we use it because those moments can tell us a lot about the patterns you want to change.
-
The oppression we experience in the world inevitably comes into our work together. We must look at how things like homophobia and transphobia, racism, capitalism and white supremacy shape the beliefs you hold about yourself and the world in which we live. This enables us to build the capacity for tolerating our shared reality without allowing systemic oppression to define us.
-
In order to access that wisdom we slow down and listen to our sensations, building a vocabulary to describe the experience and growing tolerance for being present with our bodies. Intensives make it possible to do this slowly, building safety so that we can trust what our bodies already know.
-
I am dedicated to my own healing process, including regular therapy, community building, body work and somatic practices. These things mean that when I show up to our sessions I have the capacity and clarity to be fully present for you.
-
Our work is focused on your inner world, but we will explore ways you can seek out collective healing practices as well. Examples may include:
-
Caring for ourselves enables us to imagine a different world, and to advocate for what is right without burning out.
-
Your healing is not separate from mine. Our work together changes us both and moves us towards a world where all of us can be free.
Here’s how you’ll know you can settle in with me.
I love getting to do this work!
We have the opportunity to settle in and go deep. And we get to be real with each other. I will almost always have a cup of coffee in one hand, and I’ll take my shoes off and tuck my feet up underneath me midway through a session. We might take a break and walk around the block, or stand up to stretch and move our bodies. I hope you will feel free to do the same - let me know what you need to find some ease.
All these things add to the space for you to feel safe to embrace the deepest parts of yourself. And with that comes a kind of freedom you might have never thought possible.
I am in this work with you.
I combine my training with my lived experience, listening to both my body and my intuition alongside my education. I work to hold the complexity of life rather than retreat to a rigid binary perspective. This makes our work together dynamic, expansive, and transformative.
